What is Somnia Validator Monitor Bot?

A Telegram bot that monitors validators on the Somnia Network and sends real-time notifications about committee participation changes.

Is the bot free to use?

Yes, the bot is free to use. However, access may be restricted by your administrator.

How often does the bot check my validators?

  • Committee status: Every 1 minute
  • Full validator data: Every 5 minutes

Can I monitor multiple validators?

Yes! You can subscribe to as many validators as you need. Use /subscribe for each validator you want to monitor.

What networks are supported?

Currently, the bot supports Somnia Testnet. The network is automatically detected based on your configuration.

Subscription Questions

How do I find my validator address?

Your validator address is the Ethereum-style address (starting with 0x) assigned when you registered your validator on the Somnia Network.

Can I subscribe to any validator?

Yes, you can subscribe to any valid validator address, even if it's not yours. This is useful for monitoring competitors or partners.

What happens if I subscribe to an invalid address?

The bot will check if the address is valid and registered on the network. If not, you'll receive an error message.

Are my subscriptions saved?

Yes, all subscriptions are permanently saved in the database. They remain active even if:

  • You close Telegram
  • The bot restarts
  • You don't use the bot for a while

How do I see all my subscriptions?

Use the /status command to view all your active subscriptions and their current state.

Notification Questions

What notifications will I receive?

You'll receive notifications when your validator:

  • ✅ Joins the current epoch committee
  • ❌ Leaves the current epoch committee
  • 🚀 Is selected for the next epoch committee
  • 🔔 Is removed from the next epoch committee

Can I disable notifications?

Currently, you cannot selectively disable notifications. To stop all notifications, unsubscribe from the validator using /unsubscribe.

Why am I not receiving notifications?

Check that:

  1. You're subscribed to the validator (/status)
  2. The validator address is correct
  3. The bot is not muted in Telegram
  4. The validator is actually changing committee status

Can I get notifications in different languages?

Yes! Use /language to choose from:

  • English 🇬🇧
  • Russian 🇷🇺
  • Chinese 🇨🇳
  • Japanese 🇯🇵
  • Spanish 🇪🇸

Technical Questions

What is an epoch?

An epoch is a fixed period of time in the Somnia Network during which a specific set of validators form the committee responsible for validating transactions.

What does "committee" mean?

The committee is a group of selected validators responsible for validating and confirming transactions during an epoch.

How are validators selected for committees?

Validator selection is handled by the Somnia Network protocol based on stake, performance, and other factors. The bot monitors these selections but doesn't influence them.

What's the difference between current and next epoch committee?

  • Current epoch: Validators actively participating right now
  • Next epoch: Validators selected for the upcoming epoch

Troubleshooting Questions

The bot says my validator address is invalid

Ensure:

  • The address starts with 0x
  • It's exactly 42 characters long (0x + 40 hex characters)
  • You copied the complete address without spaces

How can I see my validator's status?

Use the /status command to:

  • View all your subscribed validators
  • Click on any validator to see detailed information
  • Check current and next epoch committee status

The bot is not responding

Try:

  1. Send /start to reinitialize
  2. Check if the bot is online (ask your administrator)
  3. Try again in a few minutes

Can I use the bot in a group chat?

The bot is designed for private chats. Group functionality may be limited or disabled by your administrator.

Privacy & Security

Is my data secure?

Yes, the bot:

  • Only stores your Telegram ID and validator subscriptions
  • Doesn't store personal information
  • Uses secure database storage
  • Isolates user data (you can only see your own subscriptions)

Can other users see my subscriptions?

No, each user can only see and manage their own subscriptions.

Who can see my validator addresses?

Only you and the bot administrators can see your subscribed validator addresses.

How do I report a bug?

Contact your bot administrator with:

  • Description of the issue
  • Screenshots if applicable
  • Time when it occurred
  • Commands you used

Where can I suggest features?
